TSAMTO, October 1. More than 30 sets of MANPADS "wIllow" entered service with a motorized rifle unit of the ZVO, stationed in the Leningrad region.
MANPADS are designed to defeat low-flying targets on oncoming and catch-up courses. The main feature of the complex is the ability to hit low-emitting targets, such as cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, under the influence of false thermal interference at an altitude of 10 to 4500 m and at a range of 500 to 6500 m.
In addition, the automated MANPADS control system allows you to detect single and group aerial targets, determine their flight parameters and distribute them among anti-aircraft gunners in automatic mode.
The complex includes a launcher, a rocket, a "friend-foe" system, training facilities and other mechanisms. The deployment time of the MANPADS is 8 seconds.
Also, more than 10 units of STRELA-10MN anti-aircraft missile systems will be put into service with the motorized rifle brigade of the ZVO in the near future, the press service of the Western Military District reports.
