In 2021, tests of the Prometheus perimeter security system, including remotely controlled combat modules with a large-caliber machine gun, will be completed at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense, Igor Afanasyev, Director General of the research and production association eLektromashina, told TASS .
"The tests of the stationary Prometheus system will be completed this year. This is the final stage of testing at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. At the moment, pre-contract work is underway, that is, we are already working out some things that will be laid down in the contract," the head said.
According to him, the contract with the customer for the production of these systems is planned to be concluded in 2022, and deliveries will begin in 2023.
Afanasyev announced the creation of Prometheus in September.
In the same month, the American publication Stars and Stripes stated that the killer robots tested during the ZAPAD-2021 exercises cause concern in Western countries because they are a "step forward" in the creation of the Russian unmanned army. The publication noted such Russian ground-based drones as the URAN-9, equipped with a 30-millimeter automatic cannon, a machine gun, anti-tank missiles and a flamethrower, and the nErekhta, firing at targets with a machine gun and a grenade launcher.
