Washington. September 30th. INTERFAX - The United States does not pursue a hostile policy towards the DPRK and is ready to meet without preconditions, a representative of the State Department told the South Korean Yonhap news agency.
"The United States does not harbor any hostile intentions towards the DPRK. Our policy calls for a measured, practical approach that is open to diplomacy with the DPRK and is aimed at achieving tangible progress that will increase the security of the United States, our allies and our deployed forces," Yonhap quoted a State Department official as saying.
"We are ready to meet with the DPRK without preconditions. We hope that the DPRK will respond positively ...", he added.
The representative of the State Department also said that the United States supports the inter-Korean dialogue.
"We strongly support inter-Korean cooperation and believe that it plays an important role in creating a more stable environment on the Korean peninsula," the official said.
Earlier, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, speaking at a session of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, said that the United States is trying to deceive the international community and disguise its hostile behavior by calling on the DPRK for dialogue.
