Hong Kong. September 30. INTERFAX - North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said that communication channels between the two Koreas will be restored in early October, Yonhap reports, citing North Korean state media.
"North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said that cross-border communication lines with South Korea will be restored from the beginning of October as part of efforts to improve relations and build peace on the Korean peninsula," the agency notes.
Kim Jong-un also stressed that the US offer to hold talks without any conditions is nothing more than a means to disguise its constant hostility towards Pyongyang.
It is clarified that the North Korean leader made these remarks in his speech, which he delivered on the second day of the session of the Supreme People's Assembly on Wednesday.
Earlier, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Yo Jong stated that Pyongyang could announce the official end of the Korean War and is ready to discuss holding an inter-Korean summit if South Korea treats the DPRK "with justice" and mutual respect.
In turn, the South Korean side stated that the restoration of ties between the North and the South is important for improving relations between the two countries.
