TSAMTO, September 29. The Swedish company Saab has announced that it has received an order from an unnamed country for the supply of new 84-mm Karl Gustav M4 portable anti-tank grenade launchers and a set of ammunition for them.
The total cost of the order is about 900 million Swedish kronor ($104 million). Deliveries should be completed in 2022. Other details concerning the customer and the order are not disclosed under the terms of the agreement.
As reported by TSAMTO, the latest version of the 84-mm Karl Gustav M4 hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher is significantly reduced in weight. The mass of the M4 is 6.7 kg, which is 30% lighter than the M3, and half lighter than the 14.2-kg version of the M2. In addition to using the standard telescopic sight from the M3 version, Saab has equipped the M4 with an interface for installing advanced "intelligent" sights to increase the accuracy and probability of hitting the target. The latest version allows the use of new ammunition and is compatible with all previously developed types of ammunition. In addition, the M4 allows you to fire programmable ammunition.
Since the first demonstration in 2014, Saab has signed contracts for the supply of Karl Gustav M4 grenade launchers with fourteen countries around the world.
