Moscow. September 28. INTERFAX - Holding "Roselectronics" (part of ROSTEC) will begin mass production of the first Russian ultrahigh frequency switches for spacecraft in early 2022, the press service of the state corporation reported.
"Serial production of new products and deliveries to enterprises of the rocket and space industry will begin in January 2022," the report says.
It is noted that the project is aimed at import substitution and reducing dependence on foreign microwave equipment for the space industry.
"The production of microwave switches will be launched at the Saratov NPP ALMAZ (part of Roselectronics). The total budget of the project to create a new production facility is 344 million rubles. Of these, NPP ALMAZ received 250 million rubles from the FRP (Industrial Development Fund - IF) in the form of a preferential loan under the Conversion program," ROSTEC reported.
"The launch of the new production will allow replacing foreign microwave switches used in Russian satellites. Firm contracts for the supply of new products have already been concluded. In total, negotiations are currently underway with customers on the supply of more than 600 pieces of equipment for installation on domestic spacecraft," said Sergey Sakhnenko, CEO of the United Instrument Corporation, quoted by the press service of the state corporation.
On June 15, the head of ROSCOSMOS, Dmitry Rogozin, said that US sanctions restricting the supply of microelectronics affected dozens of Russian spacecraft. According to him, the launch of a number of satellites is disrupted due to sanctions.
"We have more than enough missiles, there is nothing to withdraw. Because there are spacecraft, almost assembled. In one, another, and the third, there is simply not enough one specific chip, which is not given to us through sanctions in any way for purchase," Rogozin said.
