Tbilisi. September 28. INTERFAX - Five ships of the second permanent anti-mine group of NATO (SNMCMG2) entered the territorial waters of Georgia on Tuesday, the press service of the Coast Guard Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic reports.
According to the press service, the group includes ships of the naval forces of Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.
"The visit of the ships of the second Permanent Mine Action Group of NATO (SNMCMG2) confirms the North Atlantic Alliance's support for Georgia's course towards joining NATO. Georgia's close cooperation with NATO strengthens the security of the Black Sea and contributes to stability in the region," the message reads.
It is reported that during the visit, NATO ships will conduct joint exercises with the Georgian Coast Guard Department.
