London. September 26. INTERFAX - The frigate Richmond of the British Navy earlier in September recorded the actions of ships from different countries in the East China Sea that violated international sanctions against the DPRK's nuclear and missile programs, according to a press release released on Sunday by the British Ministry of Defense.
"The Richmond ship recently conducted operations in the East China Sea to support UN sanctions against the DPRK's weapons of mass destruction development program and missile program. The sanctions adopted in 2017 prohibit the supply of fuel and refined products to the DPRK, " the document says.
According to the press release, the frigate assigned to the aircraft carrier strike group of the British Navy, led by the aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth, identified the violating vessels, collected video and photographic materials on violations of sanctions and then transferred them to the UN. The ship also conducted reconnaissance for "other vessels of interest".
"North Korea's ambitions in the field of obtaining weapons of mass destruction are destabilizing the region and pose a threat to the whole world. This important activity (of the frigate - IF), as part of the deployment of an aircraft carrier strike group in the region, undermines such ambitions," the statement quoted British Defense Minister Ben Wallace as saying.
