London. September 25. INTERFAX-The strategic reconnaissance drone of the US Air Force RQ-4B Global Hawk on Saturday conducted a multi-hour flight near the western borders of Russia and Belarus, according to data from Western aviation resources.
According to them, the American long-range heavy drone, which took off from the Sigonella air base on the Italian island of Sicily, initially flew along the borders of the Pskov and Leningrad regions, while in the airspace of Latvia and Estonia, and then for more than seven hours cruised north of the Kaliningrad region in the skies of Lithuania.
During the mission, he also flew along the western border of Belarus and spent several hours barraging to the northwest of the country in Lithuanian and Latvian airspace.
In total, the American high-altitude Global Hawk drone was at the borders of the Union State for about 14 hours on Saturday.
The Global Hawk drone is designed to conduct strategic aerial reconnaissance to a depth of about 250 km for a long time. When flying at high altitudes, it is able to survey large areas, carry out reconnaissance of point targets with high resolution and transmit intelligence information to the command in real time.
When examining large areas in the mode of route observation carried out in a 10 km wide strip located with a lateral offset from 20 to 200 km parallel to the flight path, the resolution of the images obtained is 1 m.
