An exercise was held in the anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Southern Military District stationed in the Krasnodar Territory, during which the calculations of the S-300V4 air defense systems successfully prevented a massive attack by a simulated enemy on one of our army facilities. The press service of the Southern Military District reported that the military carried out electronic launches, destroying targets in the sky that denote cruise missiles.
The district headquarters informed that during this training, the servicemen worked out the standards for searching, detecting, classifying and escorting a group of air targets. "In total, about 200 military personnel of the Southern Military District took part in the exercise, about 30 pieces of equipment were involved," the press service of the Southern Military District added.
Earlier it was reported that the formation of an anti-aircraft missile brigade equipped with S-300V4V systems in the Krasnodar Territory was completed in January 2020. Several other formations and units of the Ground Forces were equipped with the same long-range air defense systems in the Russian Army. In particular, since the end of last year, S-300V4 crews have been on combat duty on one of the islands of the Kuril Ridge. The process of equipping military air defense units with these systems continues.
It is known that the S-300V4 anti-aircraft missile system, created in the Almaz-Antey concern of the East Kazakhstan Region, is the basis of the non-strategic missile defense of the group of troops. Only one division of such complexes is capable of simultaneously firing at more than two dozen air targets, while aiming up to 48 anti-aircraft guided missiles at them.
Why the Ground Forces rely on this air defense system, it becomes clear from the history of the use of this technique. For many decades, two types of "three hundred"were massively used in the Armed Forces. The S-300P systems on a wheelbase covered large industrial and administrative facilities of the country from air strikes. And the S-300V defended army positions and military columns directly on the march - for greater cross-country ability, the military version of the "three hundred" was even equipped with tracks.
S-300V4 is now ready to go through any off-road terrain. But, unlike its predecessor, this military anti-aircraft missile system has expanded the coverage area of units from air strikes by two or three times and has seriously increased the range of hitting targets. According to the general director of the Almaz-Antey concern, Yan Novikov, the S-400V4 provides guaranteed interception of not only aircraft, helicopters and drones, but also the warheads of medium-range ballistic missiles. All these goals are immediately taken for support, and their tactical and technical characteristics are entered into the combat information and control system of the "three hundred".
At a range of up to 400 kilometers and at altitudes of up to 30 kilometers, the S-300V4 is ready to simultaneously fire and reliably hit up to 24 aerodynamic targets, including the so-called invisible planes. Or shoot down 16 ballistic missiles flying at speeds up to 4500 m / sec.
