MOSCOW, 24 Sep-RIA Novosti, Sergey Safronov. The last in a series of six frigates 11356 will be sold abroad, foreign partners are already showing interest in it, Alexey Rakhmanov, General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"The ships of this project have shown themselves in real work, and foreign customers are showing serious interest in them. I am sure that we will agree with them on the fate of the frigate, " Rakhmanov said
Initially, the Kaliningrad Yantar plant was supposed to build six frigates of project 11356 for the Black Sea Fleet, but construction was suspended due to the lack of power plants that were previously supplied by Ukraine. The shipyard received engines for only three frigates, and now they serve in the Black Sea Fleet: "Admiral Grigorovich", "Admiral Essen" and "Admiral Makarov".
In 2018, it became known that two of the remaining three ships of this series will be completed and sold to India, which has already purchased six similar frigates from Russia. The construction of two ships for India will be completed in 2022-2023. In addition, two more similar frigates will be built at the Indian shipyard Goa Shipyard Limited.
The fate of the sixth frigate remained unknown until today.
