Moscow. September 23. INTERFAX-The private company Success Rockets (SR) intends to set a record for the height of a suborbital flight for Russian private companies in November this year, the SR press service told Interfax.
"The NEBO 25 suborbital rocket will be launched in November this year by the private Russian space corporation Success Rockets from the test site in the Astrakhan region," the press service said.
They noted that the goal of the upcoming launch is to set a new national record for flight altitude among private companies.
"The mission objectives are to overcome an altitude of 20 km, receive telemetry information throughout the flight, collect and record all the necessary indicators on board the rocket and make a safe landing," the company said.
According to the CEO of Success Rockets Oleg Mansurov, a jet engine will be installed on the rocket, the operating time of which will be 8 seconds during the launch.
"The rocket will have to accelerate to twice the speed of sound (mach two) and overcome an altitude of 20 km. Two search telemetry modules will be installed on the rocket from the telemetry equipment. The task of this equipment is primarily to transmit the coordinates of the missile's location for its further search, " Mansurov said, whose words are given in the message.
The NEBO 25 rocket is a single-stage solid-fuel rocket. The length of the rocket is 3.5 m, the caliber is 110 mm, the launch mass is 65,000 g. The rocket was developed since August 2020.
In June 2020, the National Space Company conducted a test launch of the Vyatka suborbital rocket from a test site in the Kirov region. The rocket took off at an altitude of 15 km, reaching a speed of 2500 km/h.
According to the SPARK-Interfax analytical system, Success Rockets JSC was registered on July 30, 2020, and is engaged in space transport activities. The owner of the company is Oleg Mansurov.
In June 2020, Vedomosti reported that a group of Russian private investors was planning to develop an ultralight launch vehicle. It was planned to invest $50 million in the project called Success Rockets. The 20-meter-long rocket will weigh 13 tons and will be able to put at least 250 kg of cargo into orbit.
It was noted that the project has three investors, but they were not disclosed, it was only specified that these are entrepreneurs from the oil industry, IT and the production of construction materials. They planned to allocate 300 million rubles for the first stage of rocket development. In addition, it was supposed to attract other investors, as well as conduct a crowdfunding campaign.
