Chisinau. September 23. INTERFAX-Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that the republic's position" on the complete and unconditional withdrawal of the Russian armed forces " remains unchanged.
"Our position on the complete and unconditional withdrawal of the Russian armed forces remains unchanged. The same applies to the removal or destruction of ammunition ( ... ), which pose a threat to security and the environment for the entire region as a whole. In this aspiration, we count on the support of the international community," Sandu stressed in her speech at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.
She expressed concern that "more and more security crises are emerging in the region."
"In a global, interdependent world, their consequences affect everyone. If we talk about our region, we are seriously concerned about the deterioration of the security situation in the area of the Black Sea," the Moldovan leader said.
"We still firmly adhere to the principles of a peaceful, political solution to the conflict in the Transnistrian region," Sandu added.
In addition, she stated the need to develop effective means to protect democracy in Moldova.
