MOSCOW, September 22. /TASS/. Cosmonauts of the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS) are working on testing and activating the control systems of the ERA robot manipulator placed on the outer surface of the Nauka laboratory module. This was reported on Wednesday in Roscosmos.
"The crew of the Russian segment of the International Space Station has started integrating and testing the European Robotic Arm manipulator, which is located on the outer surface of the multi - purpose laboratory module Nauka," Roscosmos reported.
It is specified that at the moment the crew is working on activating the manipulator control and integrating software into the station control system. In the future, the astronauts will have to conduct a number of tests of the manipulator's systems and software to check its operability and deployment on the Russian segment of the ISS.
The new Russian module "Science" is designed to increase the technical and operational capabilities of the Russian segment of the ISS. He will use the opportunities to implement scientific research in the field of science and the social sphere, including the development and expansion of the Russian sector of the ISS.
