MOSCOW, 22 Sep-RIA Novosti. The Russian AK-12 assault rifle is not inferior to modern foreign models of small arms in accuracy, Sergey Urzhumtsev, chief designer of Kalashnikov Concern JSC, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Accuracy of shooting is a key characteristic that characterizes the quality of small arms: it shows his ability to group the bullets hitting the target at one point. The smaller the distance between hits in a group of shots, the better the accuracy. Accuracy is determined by firing a weapon mounted on a machine to eliminate human errors.
The AK-12 was adopted by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, its deliveries to the army began in 2018. Following the results of military operation since 2020, a number of changes were made to the machine gun: the shape of the butt and the shape of the pistol grip were changed, the design of the sight was changed in terms of reducing its dimensions and weight.
The machine is powered by intermediate cartridges of 5.45 by 39 mm, has a sighting range of 800 meters and a magazine with a capacity of 30 rounds. It is equipped with Picatini bars for various attachments, has an increased barrel life and improved accuracy of shooting.
A new contract for the supply of AK-12 to the Russian army was signed during the international military-technical forum "Army-2021". As the press service of the Kalashnikov Group of companies later clarified to RIA Novosti, tens of thousands of AK-12s will be delivered to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the coming years, this machine gun will become the main one in the Russian army.
