From September 20 to 24, the joint military anti-terrorist command and staff exercise of the armed forces of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states "Peace Mission-2021" will be held at the Donguz training ground in the Orenburg Region. For the first time, the military contingent of the Republic of Belarus will also take part in the exercise, the Central Military District reported today.
The participants of the training, in particular, will exchange experience in countering new tactics used by terrorists and preventing terrorist attacks using chemical and biological weapons. Also, the servicemen will have to fight with drones.
"The implementation of combat training tasks will take into account the development of the military-political situation in the Central Asian region," the press service of the Central Military District stressed.
The "Peace Mission-2021" (the exercise, we recall, is held every two years, the first took place in August 2003) involves about 5.5 thousand military personnel and more than 1.2 thousand pieces of equipment.
The basis of the Russian contingent consists of units of the Guards Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District, special forces and aviation - 30 planes and helicopters. "The air group includes flight crews of units from five Russian regions, the Kant base in Kyrgyzstan and pilots of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan," the Central Military District said.
