The main differences between the three generations of AK machines were demonstrated on video. Vladimir Onokoy, Director for military-technical cooperation of the Kalashnikov concern, told about this.
He started with the machine of the hundredth series - AK-103. The weapon is equipped with a muzzle compensator, which effectively reduces the barrel toss and recoil. It has a forearm with two straps - one on the right side, the other at the bottom. All machines of the hundredth series are equipped with a polyamide butt, which folds to the left side, and a bar for mounting brackets, night sights and other options.
The next series, the 200th, was presented in 2018. Vladimir Onokoy demonstrated the AK-203. Instead of a muzzle brake-compensator, a flame extinguisher is used on it, which also effectively reduces the barrel toss. The Picatinny rail is located on the upper side of the receiver. It is adapted for mounting additional devices to increase the shooting efficiency. Additionally, such slats are made on the forearm. They are located at the bottom and on the sides, removable. All elements of the barrel fittings are attached to pins. This is the difference from the hundredth series. The slats on the sides are also removable, additional accessories can be attached to them - handles, lights.
All 200-series assault rifles have an adjustable butt that folds to the left side. There is also an ergonomic pistol grip with a container for accessories inside. In general, it has a barrel with smaller tolerances, which provides better accuracy of shooting.
AK-15. In 2020, a new version of these machines with an adjustable butt, which folds to the left side, is presented. The machine has a cut-off mode - two shots each. Here is a new ergonomic pistol grip. The difference is that the trigger guard and the handle itself are made in the form of a single part. Inside the handle there is a container for accessories. The receiver cover is completely removed. The forearm is hung out and has 4 Picatinny bars-top, bottom and removable on the sides. The gas outlet unit and the front sight are combined into one part.
PPK-20. A new version of the submachine gun was presented in 2021 at the Army-2021 forum. Unlike previous generations, the butt is folded to the right and is adjustable, despite its small size and light weight. The submachine gun received a two-way fuse-a switch of fire modes. The PPK-20 is also equipped with a quick-release silencer.
