The Japanese Defense Ministry announced that the DPRK allegedly launched a ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan on Wednesday. This was reported on September 15 by the Japanese TV and radio company NHK.
Previously, the rocket fell outside the exclusive economic zone of Japan. The Ministry is currently collecting and analyzing relevant information.
The Japanese Maritime Security Administration clarified that a projectile from the territory of the DPRK, presumably a missile, was fired at 12:38 (6:38 Moscow time).
In addition, the data on the launch of at least one unidentified projectile from North Korea into the Sea of Japan was confirmed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea (JCS), the Yonhap news agency reports.
On September 13, North Korea announced successful tests of new long-range cruise missiles-strategic vehicles. The development was carried out for two years.
The Japanese Defense Ministry reported on the analysis of information about cruise missile tests. The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea also noted that the republic's intelligence service, in cooperation with colleagues from the United States, is conducting a detailed analysis of the situation.
In turn, the United States also said that it is monitoring the situation with new North Korean equipment. Washington pointed out that Pyongyang's actions can be considered as a security threat to the countries neighboring the DPRK and the world community.
Earlier, on May 14, representatives of the US military departments reported that the United States is ready to use all its potential, including nuclear, in order to deter threats emanating from the DPRK.
