Moscow. September 13. INTERFAX-The overwhelming majority of Russians (83%) believe that Russia needs to have nuclear weapons, among fellow citizens aged 60 years and older, 88% of respondents think so, according to a VTsIOM survey received by Interfax on Monday.
Among the arguments in favor of Russia's nuclear status are such arguments as the presence of an effective means of protection, a political tool and a deterrent factor, a guarantee of security, sociologists note.
The opposite point of view is shared by 11% of the survey participants, according to VTsIOM.
