Japan sent a protest to the Russian Federation through diplomatic channels because of the alleged violation of the airspace by a Russian aircraft. This was announced by the Secretary General of the Japanese government Katsunobu Kato at a press conference on Monday, September 13.
According to him, the day before at 9: 37 (3: 37 Moscow time) and at 9: 58 (3:58 Moscow time), a Russian plane violated Japanese airspace near Cape Siretoko in Hokkaido. Because of this, the fighters of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Forces were raised.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed a strong protest to the Russian government through diplomatic channels and demanded that measures be taken to prevent such a thing from happening again," Kato said.
On September 12, the Japanese Defense Ministry announced an alleged violation of the country's airspace by a Russian An-26 aircraft.
In the release distributed by the department, there was a photo of the aircraft with the signature "An-26", taken, allegedly, from the side of a Japanese fighter jet raised to intercept it.
Earlier, at the end of last year, a Russian Su-30 fighter jet rose to intercept a Japanese patrol aircraft over the Seas of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk. After the Japanese ship turned around from the Russian state border, the Russian fighter returned to the home airfield.
