The Japanese government has commented on North Korea's tests of a new cruise missile. According to the Secretary General of the Japanese government, Katsunobu Kato, whose words are quoted by RIA Novosti, the missile causes concern in Tokyo.
During the press conference, Kato stressed that Japan constantly monitors all the movements of the DPRK in the military field. According to him, if the flight range of 1,500 kilometers corresponds to reality, then this poses a threat to peace and security in the region around Japan.
He also assured that in matters of North Korean military activity, Japan closely cooperates with South Korea and the United States and collects and analyzes information in order to improve the country's defense capability and missile defense.
On September 13, it became known about the successful tests of a new long-range cruise missile in the DPRK. The North Korean Central Telegraph Agency (KCNA) reported that the military leadership of the DPRK tested the engines, control and guidance systems, as well as warheads and other parts of the missile. "The launched long-range cruise missiles flew for 7580 seconds and hit targets at a distance of 1,500 kilometers."
