MOSCOW, 12 Sep-RIA Novosti. The equipment and competitive cost of the new Su-75 Checkmate light tactical aircraft will allow it to bypass foreign manufacturers. This opinion was shared by columnist Mark Episkopos in an article for The National Interest.
The fifth-generation Russian stealth fighter can reach speeds of up to 1,900 kilometers per hour, and its combat radius is three thousand kilometers, the author draws attention to.
He emphasizes that the Su-75 Checkmate is equipped with a "second stage" engine (Product 30) and boasts a modern glass cabin, the layout of which is similar to that of the Su-57 fighter.
As another advantage, the specialist highlights the aircraft's carrying capacity of more than seven tons and the ability to carry universal weapons, which include medium-and short-range RVV-MD and RVV-SD missiles, air-to-ground missiles from the Thunder family, a large number of guided and unguided bombs, and much more.
It is noted that at a minimum cost of 25-30 million dollars, the Su-75 Checkmate will compete with the Swedish multi-purpose fighter Saab JAS-39 Gripen and the French Dassault Rafale.
The prototype of the new fifth-generation Su-75 was first presented at the Moscow International Aerospace Salon. The fighter is designed primarily for export to the countries of the Middle East, Asia, North Africa and Latin America. The first flight is scheduled for 2023, mass production - for 2025.
