More than 20 aircraft from Russia and Belarus have worked out the use of aviation weapons as part of the Zapad-2021 exercise at the Ruzhansky training ground (Belarus). In particular, the crews of the Tu-22M3 of the Russian Aerospace Forces practiced bombing, the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters.
According to the plan of the exercise, a group of a conditional enemy was discovered, including an airfield with airline complexes. The Belarusian Su-30SM conducted a reconnaissance of the area. Then, the pilots of assault, bomber and fighter aircraft, together with attack helicopters, worked out the use of aviation weapons of destruction on the positions of a conditional enemy. "The bombing of ground targets was carried out, among other things, by the crews of Tu-22M3 aircraft of the long - range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces," the military department noted.
In total, more than 20 aircraft were involved in the exercise episode. According to the objective control information, all targets were successfully hit. "More than 50 aviation bombs were dropped in the area of the test site, 130 unguided aviation missiles and 850 shells of 30 mm caliber were fired," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The joint strategic exercises of the Russian Federation and Belarus "West-2021" are held on September 10-16 at the military training grounds of Belarus and Russia. About 200 thousand people, more than 80 planes and helicopters, up to 760 units of military equipment will take part in them. The scenario of the exercises involves responding to the aggravation of the international situation and possible aggression against the Union State. The Russian and Belarusian sides have repeatedly stated the defensive nature of the upcoming maneuvers.
