The height of the orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) will be increased by 750 m before the arrival of the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft with a crew of cinematographers to shoot the first feature film in space. This was told to RIA Novosti by a representative of the press service of Roscosmos on Saturday, September 11.
"In order to form ballistic conditions before the launch of the Soyuz MS-19 transport manned spacecraft and the landing of the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft, another correction of the ISS orbit altitude is planned for September 11," the agency interlocutor shared.
The engines of the Zvezda module of the Russian segment of the ISS will be switched on at 21: 54 Moscow time and will work for 31 seconds, due to which the average height of the station's orbit will increase by 750 m.
Earlier, on August 11, Roscosmos reported that the launch of the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft is scheduled for October 5, on which the actress Yulia Peresild, as well as cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov and director Klim Shipenko will fly to the ISS for the first time.
The filmmakers will return to earth on October 17 together with cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky on the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft.
