Russian cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Oleg Novitsky installed three containers of the Biorisk-MSN experiment on the Poisk module of the International Space Station (ISS). This follows from the broadcast on the Roscosmos website on Friday, September 10.
The containers contain plant seeds, lichens, strains of microorganisms on mineral carriers, as well as soil of four types with microorganisms – gray forest, desert, permafrost and chernozem. The containers will be sent to Earth in turn after one, two and four years in space.
A day earlier, it was reported that cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Oleg Novitsky opened the hatch of the Search docking compartment on the ISS and began a spacewalk.
On September 9, Russian cosmonauts took air samples in the Zvezda module, where smoke occurred. The samples were taken in the working compartment. According to journalists, no harmful impurities were found in the composition of the ISS air after the appearance of a burning smell.
On August 25, cosmonaut Novitsky said that cosmonauts will go into outer space about 10 times before the end of 2022 to integrate and retrofit the Russian modules "Science"and " Berth".
Currently, the 65th expedition is working on the ISS, consisting of Russians Oleg Novitsky and Peter Dubrov, Americans Mark Vande Hai, Shane Kimbrough and Megan MacArthur, Japanese Akihiko Hoshide (station commander) and Frenchman Tom Pesquet.
