The modernized self-propelled anti-tank gun "Sprut-SDM1"is undergoing state tests in Russia. They should be completed at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
This was reported to RIA Novosti by Vladimir Budaev, deputy chief designer of the Volgograd Tractor Plant, which is part of Rostec as part of High-Precision Complexes. He added that the state tests were completed for 80 percent of the tasks set.
"RG" wrote that the sea trials of the Octopus are continuing, it must pass eight thousand kilometers - the full volume of the warranty mileage. Each stage of the state tests includes shooting.
Now "Octopus-SDM1" is preparing to pass the test in the climate chamber. There, the car is frozen to minus 50 degrees Celsius and tested. The customer made some clarifying changes to the tactical and technical task. Therefore, after the end of the tests, the self-propelled anti-tank gun will be finalized.
"Octopus-SDM1" is a self-propelled anti-tank gun. It can be transported by ships and planes, land and swim. The self-propelled gun is armed with an artillery and missile system of 125 mm caliber. "Octopus-SDM1" is classified as a light tank.
