MOSCOW, 10 Sep-RIA Novosti. State tests of the modernized self-propelled anti-tank gun "Sprut-SDM1" will be completed at the end of this or early next year, now they are 80% completed, the deputy chief designer of the Volgograd Tractor Plant (as part of KMZ, it is part of the "High-precision complexes" of the Rostec state Corporation)told RIA Novosti Vladimir Budaev.
"Octopus-SDM1" is currently at the stage of state tests, they have entered their final stage - at the moment about 80% of the tasks have been completed. Accordingly, we plan to complete the state tests by the end of this year or the beginning of 2022, " he said.
Budaev noted that at present, "Sprut-SDM1" is preparing to pass the test in a climate chamber, where the car is frozen to temperatures of minus 50 degrees Celsius.
The specialist also added that after preliminary tests, the Octopus-SDM1 was finalized, since "minor clarifying changes"were made to the state customer's tactical and technical task.
The self-propelled anti-tank gun "Sprut-SDM1" on a tracked chassis was developed and created by PJSC " Kurganmashzavod "(part of the"High-precision complexes"). The "Octopus" is armed with an artillery and missile system of 125 mm caliber, can be transported by ships and aircraft, and can be landed by landing and parachuting. "Octopus" develops speed on the highway at 70 kilometers per hour, afloat-up to 9 kilometers per hour. The self-propelled gun is also classified as a light tank.
