MOSCOW, 9 Sep-RIA Novosti. Russia and Belarus are preparing for a guerrilla war with the North Atlantic Alliance at the Zapad-2021 exercises. This is written by the columnist of the American edition of the National Interest, Mark Episcopos.
Military expert Michael Kofman suggested that the maneuvers will consist of two stages. In the initial phase, the mobilization and deployment of Russian and Belarusian troops will take place in the first days of the alleged invasion of US forces and their allies. In the second phase, Moscow will use the full range of weapons available to it to defeat the troops of a conditional enemy, the expert noted.
According to the columnist Episcopos, Poland, Latvia and Ukraine have expressed "serious concern" about their security due to the Russian-Belarusian exercises. However, there is no indication that Russia is using them to cover up military intervention in neighboring countries, the author concluded.
