In Afghanistan, old Soviet-made tanks were used in the past battles in the area of the northern province of Panjshir.

We have already written about the T-62M seen here, which clearly previously belonged to the 40th Army of a Limited contingent of Soviet Troops and was transferred to the troops of Mohammad Najibullah. For more than three decades, it has repeatedly changed owners.
Judging by the video footage that appeared on the Network, the combat vehicle this time went to the Taliban (an organization banned in Russia), and outwardly almost intact. The resistance forces abandoned her on a mountain road, possibly due to a technical malfunction.
However, the attacking militants did not destroy it, probably deciding to evacuate it for further use for their own purposes. The Americans left a large amount of equipment and equipment, but these are only armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers.
In turn, the Taliban formations also went on the offensive with the support of heavy armored vehicles. They also used the "sixty-second", however, early versions, without additional booking.
The released video showed how the T-62 fired at enemy positions from its 115-mm smoothbore cannon.
Interestingly, the tank leading the fire is not quite serviceable. He is missing one of the support rollers. It is possible that it was lost during the recent events, but it is possible that it was picked up in this form at one of the equipment storage sites.
The Taliban also deployed a T-55 to the area, which was used as a mobile firing point. According to some reports, this tank previously belonged to one of the formations subordinate to the pro-American regime.

Abandoned T-54 in #Panjshir #IEA on some places outnumbered remaining militia 2x. They couldn't stand a chance. Some unconfirmed reports that even Hamid Khorasani attacked some from the back #Afghanistan pic.twitter.com/BPYM4q5Aes
