Speech Silencer
Engineers of the US Navy have created an unusual portable device that interrupts human speech, which makes it impossible, for example, to speak at a rally.
The device was named AHAD. The principle of its operation is described in the patent application and is reduced to the following. With the help of directional microphones and speakers, AHAD captures the speech of a certain speaker, after which it reproduces it, but with some delay. At the same time, the distorted broadcast is audible only to him. As a result, the speaker is completely confused and loses the opportunity to concentrate on his speech. But everything is not limited to this. Listeners, seeing such a sharp change in the speaker's behavior, begin to think that something is wrong with him. The greatest effect of AHAD is achieved when the system repeats the speech with a delay of a syllable after the speaker. However, its possibilities are not unlimited. For example, AHAD is powerless against very confident people. Moreover, with its "help", their confidence only increases. So far, experiments with an unusual system are limited to the walls of the laboratory. Specialists of the US Navy consider AHAD to be a type of non-lethal weapon that can be used, in particular, to suppress mass riots. A more "peaceful" direction is the transfer of instructions and orders to another ship or the initiation of negotiations.
