TSAMTO, September 6. The Russian equipment of the soldier of the future "Sotnik" is planned to be equipped with optical devices for blinding the enemy at a long range, relevant studies are being conducted, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in the defense industry.
In Russia, preparatory work is underway to create the third-generation equipment "Centurion", which should replace the"Warrior". It is expected that the "Centurion" will begin to enter the army in 2025. The new equipment should include promising shooting complexes, communication and life support systems, an active exoskeleton, a micro-UAV, it will receive a new level of protection.
"To improve the combat characteristics of the Sotnik, it is planned to equip it with optical stations capable of blinding the enemy at a long range, including if he has visual protection. The devices will be integrated into the equipment elements, in particular, the possibility of mounting the system on the Centurion helmet is being considered, " the agency interlocutor said.
He added that research is currently being conducted on the topic of blinding equipment for the Centurion.
As the agency reminds, earlier in the holding "Roselectronics" reported that a wearable blinding station "Buttercup-N" has been created in Russia, which can be installed on armored shields and helmets and operate at a range of up to 100 m. The developer of the device – the Integral plant-noted that the station can be used for special operations and counter-terrorism measures. Currently, work is underway to modernize the station and reduce its weight and size characteristics.
In turn, Rostec previously said that Tsniitochmash and the Lomonosov Research Institute of Mechanics have created the first prototype of a combat exoskeleton equipped with electric motors. Such a complex reduces the load on the musculoskeletal system by 50%, energy costs when running and walking-by 15%, allows you to carry up to 60 kg of cargo and shoot from automatic weapons by 20% more accurately, RIA Novosti notes.
