Brussels. September 5. INTERFAX-The formation of armed forces independent of the United States in Europe will lead to a split among NATO allies, said Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.
"I welcome additional European efforts in the field of defense, but this can never replace NATO, and we must be sure that Europe and North America will unite," he said in an interview with The Telegraph.
Stoltenberg stressed: "Any attempt to weaken the link between North America and Europe will not only weaken NATO, but also divide Europe."
