Vladivostok. September 4. INTERFAX-Russia will complete deliveries of Mi-171SH Storm transport and assault helicopters to China in 2022, Dmitry Shugaev, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of the Russian Federation, told Interfax.
"The fulfillment of contractual obligations for the supply of Mi-171Sh military transport helicopters to the People's Republic of China is planned to be completed next year," Shugaev said.
He noted that the upgraded Mi-171Sh received improved flight performance due to a new power plant and a new main rotor.
"Foreign operators give these helicopters the highest rating. Mi-171Sh are used in Latin American countries in high-altitude conditions, in particular, in operations to combat drug trafficking, they were also used in the Middle East to fight terrorist groups, " the head of the FSVTS said.
In July, Shugaev told Interfax that Russia had started executing a contract for the supply of 18 Mi-171Sh helicopters to China in 2020.
In the annual report of Rostec for 2019, it was reported that the Russian Federation and China have a contract for the supply of 18 Mi-171Sh military transport helicopters, and more than 120 helicopters for various purposes have been ordered in total.
"During 2019, Russian Helicopters JSC signed contracts for the supply of the following Russian-made helicopter equipment to China: 68 Mi-171 helicopters (including upgraded Mi-171E); 18 Mi-171Sh (military transport) helicopters," the document said.
It was noted that China also ordered 14 Mi-171 helicopters with a VK-2500 engine and 21 Ansat helicopters.
