Vostochny Cosmodrome. September 4. INTERFAX-Construction at Vostochny will be completed in 2022, after that complex tests of the cosmodrome are planned, the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin told Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"In 2022, we must complete the construction. After that, the builders mostly leave, the Roscosmos technologists come in, we begin to conduct first autonomous, then complex tests of all the systems of the cosmodrome, " Rogozin said during the Russian president's visit to Vostochny.
According to Rogozin, in October 2023, Vostochny should be ready for the launch of Angara, which is scheduled for December of that year.
The construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome is being carried out in three stages. A launch pad for Soyuz rockets has already been built. Currently, facilities of the second stage are being built at Vostochny, designed to launch missiles of the Angara family. The first launch of Angara from the cosmodrome is scheduled for 2023.
"Angara" is a family of modular launch vehicles with oxygen-kerosene engines, which includes carriers of four classes - from light to heavy-in the range of load capacities from 1.5 ("Angara 1.1") to 35 ("Angara-A7") tons in low Earth orbit (at launch from the Plesetsk cosmodrome). The State Space Research and Production Center named after M. V. Khrunichev is the main developer and manufacturer of the Angara PH family.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is the main customer of the family.
