The ships of Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran and Kazakhstan will hold joint naval exercises in the Caspian Sea in early September, after the completion of the Sea Cup competition, the head of the Russian delegation of the Deputy Commander of the Caspian Flotilla, Rear Admiral Sergei Ekimov, told reporters on Tuesday.
"Immediately after the completion of the Sea Cup, we will hold joint exercises, in which warships of the Russian Navy, the Iranian Navy, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan will take part. Within a few days, we will practice joint actions here in the Caspian Sea, " Ekimov said, as quoted by the press center of the Army International Games.
Small missile and artillery ships of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran and Russia are taking part in the ArMI-2021 Sea Cup competition, which is being held in Iran for the first time (Azerbaijan was the host country in the previous few years). The Caspian flotilla is represented by the small missile ships "Makhachkala" and "Astrakhan".
The "Sea Cup" consists of six stages: naval training (anchoring the ship and the barrel), the struggle for the survivability of the ship (sealing holes) on a coastal training simulator, rescue training (landing in a life raft), the destruction of a floating mine from a machine gun and artillery shooting at sea and air targets.
The fourth stage of the Sea Cup competition was held in the area of the Iranian port of Enzeli. Teams from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia practiced shooting at a sea mine. According to the results of the four exercises of the competition, the first place is taken by the Iranian team, followed by the Caspian sailors, the third and fourth places are taken by the crews of the ships of the Kazakh and Azerbaijani navies, respectively.
