Washington. August 31. INTERFAX-After the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, the United States will continue its diplomatic activities there using the capabilities of its consulate in the Qatari capital Doha, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.
"We have completed our military mission in Afghanistan and are starting a new one - a diplomatic one," he said.
According to him, the US Consulate in Doha will be used for diplomatic activities related to Afghanistan.
American diplomats worked on the territory of the Kabul airport before the last US plane left Afghanistan.
The day before, Blinken said that a US diplomatic presence in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of American troops on August 31 is unlikely.
"As for maintaining a diplomatic presence on the ground on September 1, this is unlikely to happen," he said in an interview with NBC.
