The project of the Amur-LNG space rocket complex is undergoing examination
MOSCOW, August 31. /TASS/. The Progress Rocket and Space Center (RCC) (part of Roscosmos) has sent a draft design of the Amur methane launch vehicle with a returnable stage to the main research institutes of the rocket and space industry. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the enterprise.
"Currently, the preliminary design for the Amur-LNG space rocket complex is undergoing examination at the main research institutes of the rocket and space industry," the press service noted.
As specified in the RCC "Progress", the majority of research institutes issued positive conclusions on the materials of the draft project. At the same time, the company did not rule out the possibility of increasing the terms of its development.
"JSC RCC Progress does not exclude the possibility of changing the final deadlines for the draft project, taking into account the need for its completion," the press service noted.
The possible revision and improvement of the draft design, the RCC explained, is connected with additional proposals from the head customer to connect Gazprom PJSC organizations to the project, as well as the reconnaissance work carried out in advance at the Vostochny cosmodrome.
About the Amur rocket
In October last year, Roscosmos and the Progress RCC signed a contract for the development of a preliminary design of a space rocket complex with the first Russian reusable rocket powered by methane "Amur". The rocket will receive a returnable first stage and will be launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region.
In February, Dmitry Baranov, General Director of the Progress RCC, told reporters that work on the preliminary design of the Amur methane launch vehicle is planned to be completed in the third quarter of 2021. In turn, the executive director of Roscosmos for advanced programs and science, Alexander Bloshenko, noted on the air of the program "Big Space" that the preliminary design will be completed in September.
