Moscow. August 30. INTERFAX-Military-economic cooperation was discussed in Belgrade at a meeting between Russian Deputy Defense Minister Tatyana Shevtsova and Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"The issues of military-economic cooperation were discussed. The meeting was held in a warm and constructive atmosphere, " the military department said in a statement.
Shevtsova arrived the day before in Serbia, where she participated in the opening of the military police competition "Guardian of Order" within the framework of the international army games held by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Russia and Serbia are conducting joint exercises. On October 24, 2019, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the S-400 systems division (Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region) and the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun systems battery (developed by the Shipunov Instrument Design Bureau, the NPO High-Precision Complexes holding) were transferred by military transport aviation to Serbia to participate in the exercises. The S-400 division and the Pantsir-S battery then took part in exercises abroad for the first time.
On April 9, the commander of the air and missile defense forces, Yuri Grekhov, announced that in October, the Russian military will send air defense units to Serbia for exercises.
In May, about 200 Russian servicemen took part in a Russian-Serbian anti-terrorist exercise on the territory of Serbia.
Russia fulfilled the contract for the supply of a battery of Pantsir-S complexes to Serbia, declared its readiness to sell other air defense systems to Belgrade.
