Russian servicemen are using exoskeletons in Syria, which increase the combat potential of units. This was [...] told to RIA Novosti in Rostec.
The state corporation explained that the new products have already been used in combat. In particular, it became known that Russian sappers use passive exoskeletons that are not equipped with engines. Such equipment solely due to mechanics reduces the load on the musculoskeletal system of the soldier, allowing him to lift and carry large loads over a longer distance.
Earlier, Rostec announced that the first prototype of a combat exoskeleton equipped with electric motors has been created in Russia. Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial director of the Rostec cluster of weapons, ammunition and special chemicals, said that this exoskeleton can reduce the load on the musculoskeletal system by 50 percent, and energy costs for running or walking-by 15 percent.
In addition, when using it, a person can carry up to 60 kilograms of cargo and shoot from an automatic weapon 20 percent more accurately.
