For many years, the GAZ-66, nicknamed "Shishigs", were one of the most popular cars in the Soviet, and then the Russian army. They were also widely used in the armed forces of various foreign countries, where they still serve.
These all-terrain vehicles were used in Afghanistan, during the Iran-Iraq War, during conflicts in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa.
Production of all-terrain vehicles stopped in the late 90s. Now, of course, they are considered obsolete. Therefore, to replace the remaining equipment, the "Project 80", aka "Ural-66", was proposed.
According to the developers, the features of their brainchild will be a modular frame-panel cabin, which can be made with different levels of protection at the request of customers.
