Exoskeletons will be a necessary attribute in the combat equipment of the future. This was announced on Friday, August 27, by the general director of the Kalashnikov Group of companies, Vladimir Lepin.
"Exoskeletons will already be in combat equipment of the third generation as a necessary attribute," he said in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel at the Army-2021 forum.
Lepin noted that it will mainly be about the soldier being able to move around and not get tired.
"We need to make a system that helps our soldier to perform combat tasks. We are talking about mechanical things that allow him to move around calmly, and he should not get tired for a long period of time," he said.
Lepin also expressed the opinion that over time the exoskeleton will become a completely ordinary thing-like a backpack or a machine gun.
Earlier, on August 25, the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Dmitry Shugaev, told about the signing of contracts with a number of countries that are traditional partners of the Russian Federation at the Army-2021 international military-technical forum.
The Army-2021 Forum opened on August 23 in the Patriot Park in Kubinka near Moscow, it will last until August 28. About 28 thousand exhibits from 1.4 thousand enterprises from Russia and abroad will be presented at the forum. In addition, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will show more than 300 serial samples of equipment. In parallel with the forum, this year the VII Army International Games are also being held, in which servicemen of 44 armies of the world participate.
