KUBINKA (Moscow region), 27 Aug-RIA Novosti. The Russian Missile Attack Warning System (SPRN) detected 28 launches of foreign ballistic missiles in the first half of 2021,Sergei Boev, general designer of the SPRN, General Director of the Interstate Joint-Stock Corporation Vimpel, told RIA Novosti.
"In the first and second quarter, the ground-based segment of the Strategic missile Defense system detected 28 foreign launches of ballistic missiles, 32 foreign launches of launch vehicles, eight launches of Russian launch vehicles and two launches of Russian ballistic missiles," he said.
The Russian SPRN system is designed to warn about a missile attack on state and military command posts, and to issue the necessary information for Moscow's missile defense system. Its first echelon consists of a group of satellites, the second-of ground-based radar systems.
