The technology can also be used to inform the population

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. The Russian company Avant Space has patented a laser communication method that will be able to transmit information from space to Earth on the principle of a QR code. This was reported to TASS in the organization on Thursday.

"The Avant Space company has received a patent from the Federal Service for Intellectual Property for a technology that allows transmitting information from space by flickering lasers," the company noted.

As specified in Avant Space, the technology will work on the principle of a QR code. "Its essence lies in the fact that the flickering of lasers allows you to transmit binary code. So, when pointing the phone at a spacecraft showing advertising from orbit, the user gets the opportunity to receive information in the form of text or a link," the company explained.

In turn, the head of Avant Space Anton Ossovsky noted that the technology can be used, among other things, to inform the population. "Our solution..> it can be scaled on various platforms, including for emergency information of the population, assistance in emergency and other situations. I am sure that the export potential of this technology will remind itself in the near future, " he added.

In February, Director of the Project Implementation Department of the United Rocket and Space Corporation (ORCC) Andrey Divaev told TASS that the first two microsatellites with laser diodes, with the help of which it will be possible to write messages in the sky in the future, will go into orbit in 2022. According to him, the devices will be controlled as part of a swarm of satellites that will be sent into orbit in the future as part of the Constellation experiment.

In September, Avant Space reported to TASS about the successful tests in the stratosphere of a block of lasers for spacecraft that will be able to show ads from space. The company stressed that the glow of the devices will not create problems for astronomers ' observations, since the lasers on the satellites will be turned on only during the flight over the major megacities of the planet.
