TSAMTO, August 26. Lockheed Martin Corporation has announced the signing of a 5-year contract worth $ 328.8 million with the Indian Air Force Command, providing for comprehensive support for a fleet of 12 BTA C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft.
As stated, under the Follow On Support II – FOS II contract, Lockheed Martin specialists will provide program management, logistics and engineering support necessary to maintain the combat readiness of the C-130J fleet of the Indian Air Force. The contract signed in the format of a direct commercial sale is designed for a five-year period and is a continuation of the previous five-year contract (FOS I).
The contract includes options for providing support for the C-130J airframe, engines, propellers, software, etc., the supply of equipment by the contractor (CFE), spare parts, documentation, ground equipment, auxiliary and test equipment.
A total of eight employees from Lockheed Martin, General Election and Rolls-Royce will provide on-site technical support for the duration of the contract. In addition, under the FOS II contract, five C-130J Hercules aircraft will undergo 12-year maintenance, starting from 2022.
As reported by TSAMTO, a letter with a proposal and acceptance of proposals for the sale of the first 6 C-130J-30 Super Hercules military aircraft to the Indian Air Force was signed in February 2008. The sale cost was $ 962.7 million. The aircraft were delivered from December 2010 to November 2011. In December 2013, the parties signed an agreement for the supply of 6 additional aircraft, the contract for the supply of which was signed in July 2014. The delivery of these aircraft was completed in 2017. Another C-130J-30 was ordered as a replacement for the aircraft that crashed in March 2014. It was delivered in 2019.
