TSAMTO, August 26. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has decided to deploy a system of over-the-horizon radar "Container", which are capable of detecting enemy aircraft at a range of 3 thousand km.
This was announced to the RIA Novosti agency at the Army-2021 by the general director of the RTI Systems Concern (developer company) Yuri Anoshko.
"The Ministry of Defense has decided that a whole system will be deployed, as part of this task, work is being carried out to create new Container stations," Yu said.Anoshko.
The expert did not name the number of stations that will be included in the system, but noted that they "should be deployed along the Russian border and cover the corresponding space."
According to Yu.Anoshko, the Container radar station uses a range of wavelengths from a dozen to a hundred meters, which are re-reflected from the ionosphere, due to which the station is able to "look" beyond the radio horizon.
The first such station was built in Mordovia and allows you to monitor, in particular, the territory of Europe. The radar can " see " any aircraft, including those made using stealth technology. The target detection range of the "Container", according to open sources, reaches 3 thousand km, the agency notes.
