Kubinka (Moscow region). August 26. INTERFAX-Kalashnikov can launch licensed production of automatic weapons in Saudi Arabia in a matter of months after signing the contract, the general director of the concern Vladimir Lepin told Interfax.
"As far as we know, the negotiations are already at an advanced stage. Rosoboronexport, of course, will inform us. We will only welcome if an agreement is reached to organize the licensed production of our weapons in this country," Lepin said.
The concern clarified that from the moment the contract comes into force, they will need several months to start producing automatic machines.
The day before, the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Shugaev, said that Russia could launch the production of Kalashnikov assault rifles on the territory of Saudi Arabia.
