The prototype of the PZM-2M regimental earthmoving machine based on KAMAZ-65224, which is being demonstrated at the seventh International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2021", even looks very unusual from the outside.
The designers of the Galich Crane Plant managed to combine a wheeled three-axle all-terrain chassis, a crawler, a bulldozer and a trench digger on one platform.
As a result, the troops will be able to create trenches and ditches, other objects, including in frozen soils, in the coldest time of the year.
Now the units continue to operate the outdated PZM-2 developed back in the 60s on the basis of the T-150K produced in Kharkiv. This wheeled tractor by today's standards has a lot of disadvantages, for example, unsatisfactory mobility characteristics. So, the average speed is only 20-25 km/h, and the maximum on the highway is no more than 45 km / h.
At the same time, the novelty, thanks to the KAMAZ base with a powerful diesel engine, accelerates to 90 km/h and easily moves as part of army convoys.
The presence of additional tracks significantly improves cross-country ability where there are no roads.
Interestingly, the PZM-2M can be effectively used to fight fires in forests and use it to create mineral strips - a powerful ground thrower knocks down a riding fire and creates a twenty-meter protective strip.
