State tests of Lancet barrage ammunition, nicknamed "kamikaze drones", will begin at the end of 2021.
This was announced at the Army-2021 forum by a representative of the Kalashnikov Group of companies.
- The tactical and technical task for the Lancet barrage ammunition has been agreed by the state customer, state tests of unmanned aerial vehicles will begin at the end of this year, - RIA Novosti quotes the statement.
Prototypes of drones that will be submitted to state tests have been finalized taking into account the experience of their use.
Recall that at the end of last year it became known that Russian kamikaze attack drones were tested during combat operations in Syria. The head of the Rostec state Corporation, Sergey Chemezov, then noted that the aircraft had proven themselves well and turned out to be quite effective, despite the low power.
The Lancet is essentially a projectile that flies in a remotely controlled mode over the battlefield and is detonated when reaching an enemy object. The device can carry a payload of about three kilograms, flies for up to 30 minutes at a speed of 80-130 kilometers per hour and is capable of hitting targets regardless of their stealth and terrain.
The drone is launched from a catapult and flies using an electric motor. Due to the innovative double X-shaped tail, the drone has increased maneuverability and stability during a dive.
Shock UAVs are equipped with a television guidance channel, thanks to which communication with the operator is maintained until the moment of impact. The coordinates are determined from various sources without satellite navigation, which makes it possible to use the drone on objects in the air, on land and water without creating additional infrastructure.
