HONG KONG /HONG KONG/, August 24. /TASS/. The administration of the island of Taiwan plans to build a launch pad for launching rockets into space. This was reported on Tuesday by the island's Central News Agency, citing the head of the space department, Wu Zongxin.
According to him, the planning of the work will begin in 2022 after the expected adoption by Taipei of the bill on space exploration.
A site has been identified for the construction of the launch pad in the Mudan village of Pingtong District in the south of the country. Currently, representatives of the space agency are negotiating with local residents on this issue.
Earlier, the Taiwanese commercial space company TiSPACE requested permission to launch its first rocket in Australia. On Monday, the Australian authorities announced that the launch of the rocket was agreed. The exact date will be determined within a month.
