Kubinka (Moscow region). August 24. INTERFAX-Developments on artificial intelligence can become a sphere of military-political confrontation, the policy of Western countries in this area is dangerous, said Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Oleg Khramov.
"The field of artificial intelligence is inevitably turning into a sphere of not only scientific and technical competition, but also military-political confrontation," Khramov said on Tuesday at the Army - 2021 military-technical forum in Kubinka, near Moscow.
"Taking into account the factors of these threats, developed countries, primarily the United States and its closest allies, are actively promoting approaches that are beneficial to them on various international platforms to form the fundamental foundations for creating artificial intelligence systems and regulating their use in various fields," Khramov said.
"It is obvious that the goal of states that have succeeded in developing such rules and standards and are striving to consolidate them at the international level is to obtain new opportunities to dominate on a global scale in the changing historical realities," he said.
According to the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council, there is a risk of substitution of criteria concerning the functionality, reliability and security of systems with artificial intelligence, which may " allow the use of new technologies to achieve opportunistic political and economic goals."
